Leuchars Jet Jockies from Ian McLaren

We, Treble None Squadron, are a small group of RC Flyers, operating at RAF Leuchars, in Scotland. We are flying a large variety of turbine powered models, most weekends, RAF traffic permitting. Although we operate only turbine powered models at Leuchars, we are all experienced in most of the usual R/C disciplines, Scale, Aerobatics, Helicopters, and Sport models.

We would welcome any active or prospective modellers on the base to contact us, for help or information, or just to spectate. We usually operate on the base from 10.00-17.00 local most Saturdays, and details of our visits can be obtained from

jockjets@aol.com

If you've never seen a model jet fly, then it is certainly worth a visit.

Here’s just a few of the many Models that we fly to whet your appetite………

This Hawk belongs to Ron Fraser, a modeller of many years experience, who took up jet flying two years ago, at age 76!!! An ex Lancaster pilot, he has taken to this new discipline like a duck to water. He has now completed his second Hawk, in a "Reds" scheme, and will be at LU in the near future for it's maiden flight.

The F-15 belongs to Andy Rudden, and has been mostly responsible for entertaining ATC during our visits. Holding it down until reaching about 200kts, then pulling vertical when in line with the tower, he always gets the vote for best flight of the day from ATC, at the end of the day.

Darren French, a Sea-King pilot from Lossiemouth, makes the occasional trip to Leuchars, and flies a variety of turbine models, including an L-39 Albatross.

A few sport/trainer models are in evidence, used to keep in practice whilst building scale models.
