Although I’m itching to get up in the hills again,
low cloud and the recent wet weather have prevented such an outing.
However, for me at least, this has come as a bit of blessing, as I have
been moving house. Still lots of DIY to be done, but seeing that I have
managed to unpack my models, I am now really getting frustrated and need
some major stick time.
The last competition outing
for me was the Slope 2 event in March, which is featured in the
Newsletter. Although I couldn’t stay for the whole weekend, it was a
fantastic event, the old Esprit certainly performed well. Since then,
Phil Morgan invited me out to play on a recent trip to Swindon. Although
it was a sunny day, ( a rare sight these days) it was particularly
windy, so the scheduled Electroslot competition on Wraughton airfield
didn’t take place. We did, however, venture out for some fun stick time.
Phil was a real good mate, sharing his model and battery power so we
could both enjoy the outing. What a real nice chap! Thanks Phil.
There’s a further thanks to
Phil as he has kindly provided 3 more articles for this Newsletter.
Without whom, I would have very few words to print. Come on you lot, let
me have some news from your area of the world….. This is a good forum to
share your modelling experiences, pictures, or even information of what
is going on in your club or at some local event.
I hope you can manage to get
up to Waddington next weekend 21/22 July and the Thermals at Scampton on
the 3 / 4 August. Please let the respective organiser know if you are
coming along. Details on the events page of RAFMAA website,
http://www.rafmaa.co.uk. The Thermal
competition entry form has also been included in this issue as well as
on the website.
The Main RAFMAA event is
coming up at the latter end of August, beginning of September, (30-31
Aug, 01-02 Sept) at RAF Honington. Get your name down for the event,
this bad weather can’t last forever and where else can you get so much
concentrated stick time over 4 days? A good social atmosphere, have some
great fun, make some real good friends and probably pick up some good
hints and tips for both building and flying.
There’s IC power fun events,
Aerobatics, scale; also freeflight, control line, gliding, and electric,
something for everyone. Bring along your model and come and have some
real quality modelling time.
Hope you enjoy this latest
Newsletter. Again, if you have any articles or know someone who wants to
share their experiences, latest creation or let everyone know of what
modelling events are going on in their area, then just drop me an
email.
Happy landings
