This year’s Indoor competitions were held over two weekends, one in November 08, and again in early April 09. Unfortunately the numbers are still dwindling, and this year even a few of the stalwarts were unable to make it for various reasons. Those who could get to Digby were treated to two weekends of quite favourable conditions. Surprisingly perhaps, the conditions inside the hangar are directly affected by the weather outside.

In November we concentrated mainly on the duration events (EzB, HLG, Helicopter and CO2 duration). This year there were no entrants for CO2 duration, a bit of a black art, but the other 3 events were all entered and times were comparable with previous years. Once again we were glad to welcome friends and guests of the association to the gymnasium.

In April the RAFMAA entries were even lower, but we shared the event with the BMFA indoor flyers; duration on Saturday and Scale on Sunday, and these guests provided us with an interesting weekend. Our scores were up a little on the November meeting, due mainly to the pleasant sunny weather outside.

It’s perhaps time we asked questions about the future viability of the Indoor classes within RAFMAA, but as a couple of our younger members have expressed an interest, we may be able to hang on yet...
