[What can we get]   [How to order]   [Point to note]   [Contact details]

BACKGROUND

The Equipment Scheme was set up some years ago to allow members of RAFMAA to purchase modelling equipment at a discounted price.  The equipment is supplied at trade prices and the discounts available vary but range from around 10% up to 30%.

Part of the arrangement with the suppliers is that all orders as delivered to the account holder’s address and, because of this, there is also a small postage charge to be added to the price of kit.  However, if the value of goods ordered is above a threshold level, then postage is free.  The only exception to the postage deal is for fuel orders; due to the dangerous nature of fuel I have convinced the suppliers to send this direct to the customer rather than having to post it twice.  The Scheme is non-profit making.

WHAT CAN WE GET?

The Equipment Scheme was set up some years ago to allow members of RAFMAA to purchase modelling equipment at a discounted price.  The equipment is supplied at trade prices and the discounts available vary but range from around 10% up to 30%.

3.Bolly Clubman Props

As an example, an SS 40 Engine is £69.99 and would be £55.99 with RAFMAA discount and a World Models Kit at £109.99 would be £87.99 with the RAFMAA discount.

HOW DO I ORDER?

  1. Phone (or e-mail) the Equipment Member (EM) for a quote or to place an order.

  2. When the goods have arrived with the EM he will contact you with a finalised price – with any postage costs.

  3. You send a cheque, made payable to RAFMAA, to the EM.

  4. Once the cheque has cleared the kit will be sent to you.

Typical turnaround times are approximately 1 week – assuming the kit is in stock with the supplier.

POINTS TO NOTE

Most of the time the prices through the Scheme will be cheaper than your local model shop.  Where we fall down is not being able to buy smaller items in bulk.  Model shops can do this and get a discount – sometimes this means the Scheme works out more expensive.  As a rough guide, anything normally more than £20 is cheaper through the scheme but don’t be deterred,  ‘Phone for a quote, it will not cost you anything.

The EM does not have a deputy.  If he is on leave you will have to wait until he gets back before placing an order.  The moral of the story is: don’t leave it too late!
