RAF Waddington Fly - In & Thermal Championships

Good News!
The date for the 2008 Waddington Fly-In has been set as the 19th and 20th July.
Traditionally this event has been used for those RAFMAA members to hone their
skills, and meet other RAFMAA members, prior to the Champs in August. However,
this year we also intend offering 'try-and-fly' style taster sessions to local
Air Cadet Squadrons, youth groups and RAF personnel in order to generate
interest and increase the exposure of our sport.
This is a very sociable weekend with the emphasis very much on fun and
relaxation. If there is sufficient interest I will try to organize a social
event in the evening, probably something simple like a barbecue and drinks and I
may be able to organize accommodation in the appropriate mess or camping pitch,
subject to availability. I will send out more details when I am able to
finalise arrangements.
I have already obtained offers of equipment to run taster sessions for control
line and RC, and I have also had positive responses from Air Cadet Squadrons
that would like to participate. I will be sending out plans for control line
models for those interested in 'having a go' and will also provide details of
some free flight models available from the BMFA.
